The Montreal Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins last night, March 8th.  If you missed that then you also missed the huge hit by Bruins defencemen, Zdeno Chara.  Chara nailed Habs player, Max Pacioretty into the glass.  He was given a 5 minute major and a game misconduct.  The NHL felt that the hit was not intentional and no further disciplinary action will be taken.  Pacioretty is left with a fractured vertebrae and a severe concussion, he is sidelined indefinitely.

Updates:

• Montreal police will conduct a criminal investigation into the on-ice hit that sent Habs forward Max Pacioretty to hospital with a broken vertebra and concussion.
• Major NHL sponsor Air Canada threatened to withdraw its sponsorship unless the league moves to impose sanctions to reduce potential serious injuries.

MAPLE LEAF FOR LIFE!!

A limited number of tickets to the 2011 NHL Heritage Classic will go on sale Friday, December 10^th at noon Eastern, 9:00AM PST.  They will be available at  Ticketmaster.  Fans can also purchase travel packages to the game.

The game will be a match between the Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames at the McMahom Stadium in Calgary on February 20^th.

The Heritage Classic is an outdoor game that hasn’t been held in Canada since the Edmonton Oilers hosted the Montreal Canadiens on November 22^nd, 2003.  This will be the second regular season outdoor game to be played this season.  The Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins will face off at the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on New Years Day.

Unfortunately I will not be attending, although I’d love to.  I’m only 12 hours away from Calgary so maybe I can pull it off!
