NHL Hockey Games Now in 3D
CBC and Panasonic Canada announced Wednesday, September 29th 2010 that they will broadcast the first 3D NHL game to Canadian homes on December 11th 2010. The Toronto Maple Leafs will host the Montréal Canadiens, and you can watch it at home in 3D. You will be able to dodge pucks flying out of your screen from your own living room.
The second 3D broadcast is scheduled for February 20th, 2011 when the Calgary Flames will host the Montréal Canadiens at McMahon Stadium for the Heritage Classic. No other games have been officially announced as of today. The games will be aired on a seperate channel that is still to be announced.
In order to watch the games you will require a 3D TV and glasses. The 3D TVs are expensive in my opinion and you will need to spend at least $1,600 plus taxes just for a basic 3D television and then you will still have to throw out a few more hundred for the glasses and probably some more for wires.
In my opinion I might as well go to the games if I’m going to have to spend all that money to watch a few select 3D games. Also, I still don’t like the idea of having to wear a pair of big glasses on my face while watching TV. I won’t be seeing any 3D games this season. Maybe I a friend will purchases a 3D TV so I can catch one of the games on theirs. Maybe the bars will invest in some 3D televisions if more sports networks decide to broadcast games in 3D. Well have to wait and see!
